FWIW fellas...with an inbound cold front, 15+ winds and fishing until the late afternoon t-storm was on top of us, I went out yesterday and caught my biggest largemouth of the year at just under 3.5 lbs on a #3 Mepps XD in Fire Tiger on my custom Lamiglas XMG50 SJ 781 (extended to 6'9") paired with a current Gen Shimano Twin Power 2000SHG/8lb Sunline Xplasma Asegai braid+12lb fluoro leader.
My fishing buddy and I thought I hooked into a nice hybrid for a bit as this bass ran a good 10-12 yards and stayed down and just shook her head ...it literally took me a few minutes to play and land her, which was a blast!
Caught a few others as well, one on a 3/8 oz Spro Aruku.
@dragon1 indeed. I'm not sure which way things are going here. But I do know participation matters. Things are in a holding pattern it seems, for lack of more apt description. Intriguing to me, and I figure it'll all work given time, but the problem is that time ain't cheap. I'm not quite sure what to think really. Fun post though, thanks
Got into a good bite yesterday on Percy Priest on some hybrids, stripers, white, and yellow bass. Thomas my fishing buddy also caught two stripers in the 7-8 lb range and I also farmed three stripers/hybrid on a 1/2 oz Kastmaster as I couldn't keep the trebles pinned... eventually most of the larger 7-9 lb hybrids came on a 3/16-1/4 jighead and Zoom Fluke Jr. My combo of choice was my 2013 Certate 2510R-PE and Shimano Hard Rocker BB 83MH.
Heavily pressured park ponds put out too. Girlfriend wanted to go on a hike at a park about an hour away, so I grabbed a couple rods because I knew there was a pond there….first one of 2024. Extreme Mission/Tuned Steez = Nice little chunk.
