Ventured up to Diamond Lake, Oregon to participate in an annual trout derby with the girlfriend’s family…yes…Trout. Brought all light to MH bass gear and in a rare…I mean VERY rare occurrence, utilized some spinning gear.
I must say, it was the most fun I’ve had fishing for what I affectionately call “Slimers”. I got 3rd big fish of the tourney at 18.5” and a ton of quality-sized others as well. We caught em on everything from Kastmasters (X7 Super Eiger/tuned Steez CT and Lin258/X7 Powerhouse) to split-shotting/drifting Flies (T3 Air/Gan Craft Melt Bone) to trolling a Ford Fender/Wedding Ring (X7 Extreme Mission/Steez SVTW/KTF Neo)…yeah…I did that.
I got teased for even trying to make them trout eat a drop shot (Cristobal Ltd/Zonda 68/MB Honeycomb)…to no avail…🤣
Had a great time, TBH…lost count of how many fish I caught and only took a few fish pics. More so to prove that I actually used some spinning gear. Nobody would’ve believed me otherwise. The camaraderie was off the charts, food was delicious and the views…breathtaking. I might actually do it again next year.
Beautiful time brutha! Makes me miss my MB Lin 258!
Thanks for sharing.
Spinnng gear? You are geyer than the rest of us. For crying out loud, sell me the Powerhouse before you start growing kale in your home garden. 🤗 🤣
Looks like a great little getaway and a fantastic write up as always! 😎
