At this point, I start to wonder if there’s just a ton of bias or what the deal is. I can’t imagine that nobody else deserves any design awards or has done anything better in recent years. It seems like Yuki is always winning these. Not taking anything away from the man, as you guys already know, I am a die hard old-school Megabass fanboy, but iterations over the past decade have left me underwhelmed, to put it nicely. Not to mention, quality has gone downhill in my opinion. What are your thoughts?
I completely agree! The shift away from being all made in Japan was the first sign of decline. Megabass still does not understand the western angler, especially when it comes to swimbait rods. Their aesthetics are still quite nice, but do not have that magic factor they once had. I lost count of all the Vision 110 iterations they have released. And all these limited edition color drops from exclusive tackle shops.....yawn.
I miss the days when Megabass teamed up with Daiwa! Limited edition reels backed up their image with performance upgrades! I dream of seeing a return to that! Imagine an original Steez rod with Megabass treatment? How about a MB Zillion 1000 with all the tricks?
Uncage the dragon and let it breath fire again!

Recency bias for some reason won't go away. Cutting edge at one time, but that time is past. MB's OG reel offerings were legit. The sticks hit or miss, just being honest, and my personal complaint of minimalist build philosophy predictably ending in catastrophe. I don't get out nearly as often as some and I lost count how many MB sticks of mine exploded or fell apart years ago. I probably still have half dozen broken in a closet waiting for parts cannibalization. They didn't last. It got to a point I was scared to lean into them and eventually asked myself what I was doing? Who was I fooling? Why bother? What, who, why. The answer was me. So, I quit. Now, if anybody has a wad of 110's they're looking to sell reasonably send me pm. Cool...
How many guys still use Loomis because Grandad had one?
I still maintain that my fishing skill level increased exponentially due to G-Loomis blank sensitivity. I don't have any of their new offerings because I can't stand their handle designs, placement of hook keeper and overall aesthetics. But if Megabass built a rod with a G-Loomis blank, and the looks matched the performance, I would be all in.How many guys still use Loomis because Grandad had one?

@rise the award is probably fixed, megabass has definitely been more mega(b)ass recently. On the subject of onetens, I’ve stopped buying them, I don’t know if it’s a bad batch or whatever but I’ve had a couple drop their bills on me. This has never happened with stuff like OSP. Might be to do with their clear downhill track record on quality.
man I thought it was just my usual bad luck but now I wonder. I figure they're Chinese bulk with trick JDM colors and 'quality' hooks but damned if I haven't seen the same. Started about maybe 6-7 years ago? I've had my share of water intrusion issues last few years on top of it. But for every stinker, there is a winner. Which is why I've made point of buying multiples. Pricey. But they catch, and to me, highly tunable.@rise the award is probably fixed, megabass has definitely been more mega(b)ass recently.
