Dropped 8.1 brass gears and Pixy Carbontex + washers set into my SV103L. Works great...the wormgear is still the 6.3, but it seems to work well enough and cast just fine with 15lb Izorline Platinum.

There's more wraps and rotations of line on a smaller width of the spool with the faster gear ratio.

This tends to happen after a faster gear ratio is installed. I test casted for a couple hours yesterday in my backyard. If I engaged and reeled in with the line angle on the spool skewered opposite of the line guide position, over a couple of casts, the line will start to pile up unevenly on the spool. It's just basic mathematics of how and where the line starts laying after a cast.

If I am cognizant of peeling off some line after a cast, to be aligned straight ahead of the line guide, this issue is remedied.  Of note, the 8.1 brass gear set from The Tackle Trap is quality, as is the Pixy Carbontex drag and washer set in the kit. The teeth cut and depth are quite a bit smaller than the 6.3 for sure, in order to achieve the higher ratio.

I haven’t messed with this platform in a while but it’s certainly one of my favorites. Personally the 7.9:1 is good for me but seeing how you went with a higher gear ratio yet still retaining the stock worm gear is pretty interesting
