In my quest to obtain 5-6 bottom contact rods that are top shelf in terms sensitivity, looks, not run of the mill, JDM and with a bit more flavor than flavor flave I am starting at the top with the heavy hitter. The beefiest of any bottom contact rod I have used with a little extra junk in the trunk. The highly praised Evergreen Rapid Gunner RSR. I just got the rod a few days ago and we have have been in excessive heat warnings so I haven’t used it yet but I must say this rod is a brook stick. The type that you could use for a pool cue or attempt to hook set a one pounder and catapult it a hundred feet out of the water. The power this rod posses is truly a thing not typically found in a rod that is 5.1 oz. The balance and tip heaviness is slightly present when mounted with a new Zillion HD TW. I love these new Zillion HD reels, they check many boxes for me. This one is outfitted with a ZPI spool, SLP cc cap and star, SLP handle courtesy of TPs very own RISE, and OG corks. This will be a rod for me that I will use for 1/2 oz jigs and bigger trailers, Cali style swim jigs in 1/2 oz, bigger dark sleepers, and 1/2 to 3/4 oz single hook swim baits. In the even that the balance with this reel doesn’t do it I have a MB IP 68 limited dragon reel I could try on it.
With my XH slot filled next will be the heavy, then MH, then Medium, ML and Light.
Here are a few photos for now. Hoping to get more when the rod gets out for some fishing.
