I saw there was already a topic on swim jigs but mostly covering technique

I’m curious what rods in the JDM realm are a must have or highly suggest trying

I haven’t really nailed down a true JDM enthusiast style swim jig rod.. for the longest time I’ve just used the Zodias 610MH with good results but that rod was a casualty on a trip last year

I played around with my Tulala 67MHC with decent results towards the end of the season, but not sure if I like the length for swim jig fishing

Thanks

What is your preferred length and what type line do you prefer?  Also, what size hook and weight are you fishing on the swimjigs?  Also, are you mostly open water or around grass or heavier cover?  There's a ton of difference between a Northern style finesse hook 1/4 swimjig versus a 1 oz heavy cover swimjig, as well as the ones in between.

Good point dragon.. I should have been more specific

I’m a WI guy and pretty much only fish river these days, while I have to deal with grass later in the year it really isn’t thick lake stuff I need to bully through

I pretty much always fish 1/4oz Beast Coast working man’s swim jig or the Warbaits 1/4 oz swim jig which I fish on 20 lb braid

Thanks

edit: I typically have preferred shorter rods but I’m open to try anything, my current longest rod is 6’10

@rise I see the Tiemco Fenwick Ace comes in a 68MH

For my style that may be better than 74… I wonder how it behaves in comparison to the 74

My contribution here would be the DSTYLE Dehighro DHRC-70H Power Versatile.  Can't go wrong with this rod, I have spent a decent amount of time with it and can vouch for it.

All the Dehighro series rods are awesome, definitely check them out if you have a chance.  Being Aoki Daisuke's high end rod line, it cannot get more JDM.  Aoki is considered one of the top pros (if not the greatest of all time) in Japan, definitely a strong name behind a strong series of rods.

If you are looking to not spend as much, DSTYLE also has a middle-range series called the Blue Trek which is about half as much.  DBTC-70H is also a great rod, from the Blue Trek series. Blue Treks punch well above their weight in terms of performance, you are looking at around 200USD if you are buying from Japanese sites, and (this may come as a surprise to many) it is quite a step above an Expride in terms of sensitivity.  In terms of price, they're also similar.

@dragon1 usually Backlash, but if it’s sold out from there I look at auction websites and yahoo Japan etc.  We here in Canada are lucky that we have a distributor and the prices are competitive.  But prior to that I had to go online.

@hkbasser

I checked the Backlash site and it seems every DSTYLE rod was sold out.  Lol.  Evidently, these rods must be popular.
