Been a fan of various JDM braids for almost 20 years so I had to try this:
Hmmmm…report back after a couple outings, please. I’m a hardcore FX2 user, but always open to alternatives. I’m assuming they make a 50-80lb range as welL?

I see it up to 71lb on JapanTackle.
It ain't cheap, even on digitaka and it's packaged in 100m increments between 100m and 400m, I think?

Gotta love those “odd” ratings…71#…that’s just just awesome. 😅
Now that I’m thinking about it, I have not tried any JDM braids so
I embark on the journey
3 quick points ...
1. Line diameter is thinner than Varivas PE from 20 years ago. I don't recall it the line was 4 or 8 braids, or if they even used that as a parameter at that time.
2. It's like sewing thread, light, soft and slick.
3. I used 25-30 handle turns of 16lb floro backing and still filled 200 meters on a 3000 Certate spool.
First on the water test and was impressed with how the line performed. Only fish that made it to the boat was a battling 6" white perch BUT was detecting bites which could have been crappie, white perch or bass.
One Achille's Heel, have a note out to Daiwa, trying to join the braid to the flouro lead was difficult when the line was wet. The line is not overly slicked but the Alberto and Improved Alberto kept sliding apart. I tried it again this morning with a dry line and no problem.

Interesting. I wonder if it would be better after a while of use…still shouldn’t be that tricky to tie an Alberto with it out if the gate. Keep us posted @BlitzDR

Daiwa responded re: joining knot with 12 strand, the BEST knot is the FG

I think I'm going to stick with the Alberto Knot or my own 3 ring knot.
