Interesting guide configuration with the spiral starting so close to the reel. Will probably give this a go in a future build.

I retract my statement. Looking more like a 6/10 need, as the taper seems a bit slower than I’d prefer for intended purposes. The Stryder is looking much more appealing.
This is a super aggressive spiral wrap. I wonder how much added pressure is on those guides with a larger fish and if it will crack. The conventional gradual wrap seems easier on load distribution. I know tulala did a “sensitive” guide set up which kinda makes sense as the line applies more pressure to the rod. I feel that if the guides are properly sized and spaced you can achieve the same feel with a conventional inline set up?
@gaijin, valid question/concern, but I believe the blank itself would be the key in this case. I would hope EG has put this through the wringer before bringing it to market. I’m still tempted even though I’m thinking it’s not gonna line up with my preferences when it it comes to this class of rod.
@rise I would agree that the blank plays a huge role. I guess that when it comes to rod sensitivity the blank plays maybe an 80 percent roll. Where the guides play maybe a 10-15 percent roll. Since it's a bait finesse rod the amount of pressure that is applied to the guides is probably no more than the line strength. So this probably wouldn't cause much stress on the guide wrap. I do wonder how much distance is lost, if any, by doing an aggressive spiral wrap.
