Hi guys,

What is the best way to remove an engine cover for any Daiwa reel that does not have the clips that go through the side plate?? The ones that appear to be glued on, and what would be the best way to re-attach? Also what would be best way to remove the cup on the newer reels that the zero adjuster sits in?

Thanks, RK

Which reel are we discussing here? There might be specifics that apply.

The SV103 doesn’t have tabs?…🧐

I’ll have to look at one of mine when I get home. I don’t own a 16 Zillion so I can’t commmet on that, and I haven’t looked at what it’ll take to remove the 22 Zillions cover. I can investigate further later this week. There’s obviously gotta be a way.

Yeah, I figured maybe heat gun (if it’s glued) and small pick hook and work it off.

Well the 22 zillion both the engine cover and the zero adjuster cup are plastic, so I’m guessing the one on the SLP works custom body is plastic as well.
the zillion sv tw engine cover is plastic as well. I will try some other ones once I get the side plates.

Cosmetics being plastic isn't as big a deal as internal stress and torque bearing components, being made of plastic.  That's where a quality metal material really matters.

Agreed, but it’s sad to see upper tier models going to composite when they were aluminum, Mg, etc in the past. There are no gains in moving to those composites aside from monetary for the manufacturers.
