Real Control! Cool name but does it really? Couple thoughts I wanna share with you guys about this specific C611MH-SV rod, which make me think a lot of how Kyoya Fujita's idea about building such a rod...

First of all, looking of the specs, 91gr for a casting rod that can handle max 1oz lure and max PE4, I meant that is purely crazy! This type of craziness trigger me so bad that I had to try this rod and I was amaze by how this rod feels on hand. FYI, this rod is rock solid, that means its a true Medium Heavy rod, not like other brands like Evergreen MH feeling, where they usually overrated the power of their rod, the Steez RC's design language is totally different than most rod I've ever experienced. Do I love it? Not really...Do I hate it? Definitely not and here's why:

1st Cons: Weight Distribution and Balance

91 grams aka 3.25oz for the whole rod and you think it must be super light, expecting a crisp blank and small tips, and when I got the rod on hand I was shock of how this rod came out. The blank is super thick, from top to bottom, tip to butt section is much more thick than most high-end brands I have tried. This rod does not feels light at all, but it make the rod feel super solid on hand. One of my all time favorite brand, Evergreen, usually have their weight distribution all the way back to the end section with increase weight in reel seat or butt section, which make the blank more light on top for bottom contact feeling when you fish a lot with jigs or even moving baits, where the light tip will help big time with sensitivity. This specific RC rod's balance is totally different when compare to what I just said, where the distribution of weight is throughout top to bottom, because it is a 2 pieces (handle/ blank) sections, and with the long blank + super light handle, yes it DOES NOT SCARE ME TO FULL SEND HOOKSET! I will share about this as a Pros in a sec.

2nd Cons: Rating and Design

As in many post that lots of us complaining about how this $700 rod is super lack of design language where it is too blank and non details, this one is the same, so not much worth to discuss about this anymore. Rating as a MH but when I hook in a 6lb this winter with a full send hook set, probably one of the strongest hookset Ive made in awhile, this rod feels almost like a H rod because of the Fast/ Extra Fast action, again, due to the thickness of the tip, and I would say MH+ is a better rating for this rod rather than a MH. You will be surprise of how not only the casting series but also the spinning series of Real Control's power rating is underrated, which is unusual for a big JDM brand like Daiwa.

Pros: Power, Versatility and of course, Technology.

Yes this rod is strong, almost too strong than you expected before you buy the rod just by looking at the specs online. This again, will give you extra confidence in setting the hook, especially with single hook and thats an awesome feeling for me to be able to set a solid hookset. This C611MH-SV falls in between too many bait's specialization and so far I think this is one of the stick that can do it all. From big jigs that above 1/2, big spoons, topwater, buzz bait or even frog, this rod can serve you all, and this is probably the reason why Kyoya Fujita build this for his needs, a true versatility rod for everyone who wanna save time and money just to get 1 rod for many applications. Another plus things are the techs on this, which is very useable and true to what factory said, I really like them so far rather than using “fancy words” like other brands to makerting with minimum use and not practical.

Here's all my thought in 3 weeks of using it, didn't have much time to go out with school and winter/ rain in Oregon but definitely do some more homework with this rod next year. Hope you guys enjoy the post!

@kietpham

Excellent post. You make a great point about weight vs perceived weight. I pay close attention to this. Personally, I want a stick that feels light, but don’t really care if it actually is. User sensation, what it feels like, is what matters to me. In the industry, we see total weight as a selling point. But too much of a good thing also has a downside.

And you reference realistic labeled usage, which is also good. And commented on versatility, which I hold in high value. Versatility, true real user versatility, appears to be an all or nothing debate among many. But in the end, it is only a matter of preference. The problem is many sticks say they do several things well, which is not true. And then there are those that promise only one, yet do many. Personally, I chose the many. And then decide how to use it best.

Just sharing thoughts is all. I enjoyed this read very much. Happy 2025

@rise Im still haven't decide yet what best for it so for now mostly everything from buzz bait to bottom contact like jigs and spinner, can't seem to find the sweet bait for this rod since its too powerful, unlike the black raven rs where bottom contact stand out the most.

Great write up and happy new year!
I personally enjoy a rod that can do a lot fairly well. Too many rods and I feel that muscle memory might suffer unless you’re constantly rotating on a daily. Thanks for sharing!
