Hi everyone,

Does ANYONE have Any information regarding this line of rods. I want to purchase 2 models from this line (64 Neko Rig Special for versatile finesse and 69H Versatile for jig and worm), but I'm definitely going in blind. There's virtually zero info about these rods that I can find, so I thought I'd try here. I know Studio Composite is a good brand, but I'm just not sure how it compares with other more widely-known JDM rod manufacturers.

Any information is GREATLY appreciated; thank you for your time.

@bassaroo…first off, welcome to TP. Lots of great people, with a ton of knowledge spanning many many years. We are happy to have you.

As for the SC stuff, I can most likely help in some way, as I am a long time user of their offerings as well as an authorized dealer.

I terms of quality, SC is absolutely upper echelon. They invest a ton of time into R&D, engineering, etc. They are meticulous when it comes to balance, and other tolerances, so in other words…they are right up there with pretty much everyone else when it comes to reputable companies. The down side (or upside, depending on how you look at it) is that they build in small batches and/or limited quantities, so it can make some items tough to get. Aside from that, the only other “minus” I can bring to the table is that the aesthetics don’t appeal to everyone, as they opt for cleaner, less eclectic rod builds. Personally, I love em and while I do not own either of the models you’re looking at getting, I can wholeheartedly recommend them and feel confident you’ll really enjoy them. Just throwing it out there… I may even be able to aid in acquiring them, if you don’t already have a means for doing so.

Regardless, let me know if you have any other questions or need any other information.

Hello @rise,

Thank you so much for your (very quick) response—I really appreciate it. I'm a college student and, honestly, I can only imagine how much more experience most people on this forum have compared to me, lol. I’ve actually seen your posts all over the forum in the past, so it's cool to hear from you directly.

What you said already makes me feel more comfortable trying out their products, even if it’s not technical info. That said, I would be interested in your help with purchasing them: Would you be able to help with acquiring those models that I mentioned, or different ones? I seem to find a lot more info about their swimbait-focused rods—which seem to be the most popular—but there’s almost nothing out there about their "standard" bass rods.

If possible, I’d really appreciate some guidance on which of their spinning and casting models might work best for the techniques I mentioned earlier. I'm just not sure how "true" the model names actually are—for example, whether the "Neko Rig Special" is really only suited for that one thing. There’s barely any info about the rods’ actions or tapers, except in a few cases.

As for the aesthetics of their rods, I couldn't like them more—the clean, subdued look really appeals to me. From what I’ve heard, that might also help in their performance, which makes me even more interested.

I promise, I haven’t forgotten about you and I’m happy to help if I can. Sorry for the delay in responding, but I’m on vacation until the 7th. I’ll get in touch with SC and get an updated list/see what’s currently available. Please give me a few days to hear from them. I’ll do my best to update here asap and we can move forward if all works out. 🙏🏼🤙🏼

Thank you @rise

I was worried you had forgotten, haha. I'll wait to see what happens with that then; thank you very much once again. Enjoy the vacation!
