This is awesome. In great shape too. Definitely in the don’t make em like they used to category.
Yeppers for sure...it's very evident every time I service this reel and I compare the internals with later generation Daiwas. FWIW, the thumb bar assembly on this TDX HSDF is as solid and rigid as any I have ever felt, Daiwa, Shimano, or any brand.
My old tournament partner still rocks a couple of these. Upgrade the drag, keep ‘em clean internally and they perform just as well as most newer offerings. That thing looks sweet, brother…she’s a beauty. 🫡🤘🏼

Added the TDZ Gigas from the 103ML I got from Aaron and changed out the the handle and knobs again. Any 103/105 TDZ Gigas spool performs so well on the TDX HSDF due to the smaller gold spool bearing. FWIW, if the TDZ and Steez 34 mm had an option for a smaller spool bearing like the TDZ, it would provide for an even faster, freer casting spool.
Frankenstein-ed an OG TD-S 103PV that still has buttery smooth 5.1:1 gears, with parts from one of my TDX HSDF reels. Then completed a full clean, lube, and polish. Gonna be a great big spinnerbait slow-roll reel, and especially big single Colorado blades spinnerbaits at night, as well as 15+ deep cranks in that 3/4 oz range. IPT conversion works out to be about 21, so still very usable...it's gonna be very nostalgic when cranking in lures, very akin to one of my first TDZs, a 103P 5.1:1.

Gangsta…absolutely love seeing the old school stuff being modded and in active duty. Bravo, brother. 👏🏻👏🏻
