I know I’ve been quiet, but I’ve been crazy busy with all aspects of life, fishing, acquisitions, creativity, etc. I’ll be posting more often again, as I’ve got lots to talk about, but for now…I wanted to share something that I made a little while ago. As you guys may or may not know, I’m big on fabrication/building/creating things from my imagination, and with my own two hands. I’ve been doing it for most of my life and it’s one of the things that brings me true joy. That said…I’ve built many custom displays, shelves, etc for my man cave (a add-on structure that I also built myself), over the past 5 years, including this little deal for a small portion of my Silly Style collection.
In my eyes, the problem with displaying lures has always been how to get things at the right angle. Especially when it comes to silly style lures, you want to be able to show off the item from the appropriate perspective. I figured I needed to make something that allowed me to hang them in free air vs some pegboard/hook setup or the generic stands that are readily available…so I got to visualizing.
I love dark/gothic/rustic/modern stuff, and I decided to build something that I felt would compliment some of my favorites I’ve acquired over the years. While hiking with the GF, we came across a Deer skeleton that had been picked clean and was obviously pretty old, as it was partially covered in sand/dirt. My imagination ran wild with ideas, so home came a portion of the remains.
I figured out dimensions and after toying with a couple of ideas, cut out a solid base plate that could be used for additional lures on stands or just laid down on their side. Created vertical supports that I hand-made/shaped out of wood to give them a somewhat cryptic look and be a better match to the bones. As a focal point, I utilized a small segment of the spinal column as a cross support that I’d be hanging the baits from. I sanded, shaped, test fitted, drilled, then assembled using wood glue and screws. It was then all painted flat black. Added some small threaded eyelets that are inserted into the bottom of the spine, made hangers for some of my SS baits and got her set up on one of the display tables inside the “The Vault”…
It’s always satisfying to create something specific to your needs and although I know it won’t be everybody’s taste…Let me know what you guys think overall.
Thanks for looking.
Love it bruddah! Youz givin' a whole new meaning to "Bone Collector".
fresh (adjective) fresher (comparative) freshest (superlative)
1. recently made or obtained; not canned, frozen, or preserved
2. not previously known or used; new or different
3. full of energy and vigor
4. cool and fairly strong
5. having a particular experience or from a particular place
6. presumptuous, but in a sexual way
7. yielding to a renewed or increased supply of milk
Dang bro, I am trying to figure out how deer remains are going to lead to having a greater supply of milk. Maybe he is talking about extracting the calcium directly from the bone and cutting out the middle man “the milk” I digress and will leave this to a higher authority like the oligarchs…
LMMFAO...don't give da Globalist arse puppets any ideas.
Yield (verb)
1. produce or provide
2. give way to argument or demand
3. give way under force or pressure
But I digress… allow me to use it in a sentence for you to consider. Drop by drop, a tiny mouse ran up a fucking clock, little teeth, little whiskers, that tenacious little bastard. Do you see now? It’s simple: Yield + Drippin’ + Mouse = Rise. Get it?
Side note: I went to night school two years straight to graduate high school so I’m no dummy. You guys are going to have to step it up what with the way I have to explain things around here is starting to get ridiculous, just ridiculous.
@ Bad Times- bro I am studying for the national spelling bee. Can you provide the language of origin for yield and if there are any other alternate pronunciations?
@kickerfish1 hmmm thought I successfully responded to you yesterday, but it appears not. Short answer is 'no' with respect to alternate pronunciation. Which, ironically, is one of the most recognized words on the planet. Anyway, the origin of 'yield' was downtown East Oakland near the pimp row. I spent a lot of time there pre-teen since somebody had to show the current OG's how to do it.
