You already know how I feel about the Zenaqs….outstanding rods, outstanding quality.

Outstanding write up on these. I feel the same about the B5-74…but it does extremely well in specific areas, some of which you mentioned.

Glad you found your brand, brother. 🫡🤙🏼

@rise

I swapped in a set of 8.5:1 duralumin gears and shaved off another .49 oz.  I got a bit of time on the water with this rod today with 15lb CXX and I'll say that at the end of a bomb cast with a total weight ~ 1 oz spinnerbait, I could easily feel the blades spin and thump.  I could even feel when the front willow wasn't spinning...pretty damn sensitive rod overall and the taper is very reminiscent of the Efreet B76XH-RF I had last year, granted the power is a Heavy +.  I would rate the taper as a Mod-fast+, and enough tip and backbone for just about any tech for 1/2-2 oz, even frogs if you just use straight braid.

Overall this rod feels stout and rugged and just put together for battle.  Can't wait to get into some big single hook moving bait action with this rod.

The 72 Biwa Special is a very adept rod for 3/8-1 oz swimjigs + trailer.  I was using 40lb braid + a short 3' section of 20lb Sufix Elite mono.  Hit six and landed three, all of the fish were jumping and tailwalking like crazy as this area is literally 1-4 feet deep, even out 100 yards before ever hitting deeper water near the channel.  It's not the rod's fault at all, when I hooked these bass I would just power crank them in with the rod tip down, but in 1-2 fow, they easily generate launching power and have way more ability to shake and throw the hook.

Entertaining for sure as a few of the hooked bass would jump nearly parallel to the water, like an old school painting of a bass jumping to grab a flying insect.  And they were jumping with hyperactive speed and energy!  The fall bite is on.
