It’s been 8 months since I’ve been fishing. And it has been way too long. Life has been busy with a new little one and moving back to the states. My time in Japan was great and the tackle was fantastic.
Interestingly, before going to Japan 2 years ago a guy told me about the Stingray 66 and I said I could never do a casting rod without a trigger. 😅 before leaving to come back I found 2 locally that I had to pick up. On New Year’s Day I got to meet up with a good friend and do some fishing. The first rod I wanted to try out was the Stingray 66. I have it paired with a Daiwa SV Light Ltd in the 8:1 ratio. And I instantly fell in love. I’m more of a smaller bait and lighter line kind of guy. Without the trigger the rod just melts to my hand. There is nothing between my fingers and since it’s so light there was no fear of the rod slipping out of my hand. I usually cast two handed so that wasn’t a concern either. I stuck my first good fish of the year and on a new favorite combo. It’s good to be back in the US of A!
Happy new year everyone!
Welcome home!!! and Happy New Years to you
nice fish btw.. Ive never tried a triggerless rod that i can remember but I am interested.
Yeah, bud! It’s good to have you back in the states, even if you were a great “connection” while you were there in Japan. Welcome home. Looking forward to meeting you in person this coming year and fishing some of your local waters together, while we talk tackle and drool over some gear.
The Stingray is a rod I regret selling way back when, and you got that monkey clawing at my back again…time to grab another.
Glad you’re lovin it.
