Put some quality in the boat on a cold day, that started somewhat calm but ended up brutally windy…with the ancient one, My buddy Joel… who needed some time away from the nursing home…
X7 EM/Steez SV TW/KTF NEO Handled the largest of the day, while the KDW/LIVRE-dressed 19’ Antares/21’ Poison Glorious 170H took care of the rest.
New PG 170H is nice, taper is on the slower side, though. What I’ve come to expect from many JDM Jig sticks over the years, lots of power, not-so-fast tip. Sensitivity is very good, but even with the heavier 19 Antares aboard, the trickle-down PU handle section feels a bit “feathery/hollow” when matched with this blank, which makes for a unique experience while fishing it. Almost seems slightly unbalanced, even thought it’s not…if that makes sense? The handle is quite resonant, which is what gives this stick that alleged/perceived 29% increase in sensitivity, IMO. I’ll spend more time with it this coming weekend and make some final decisions about whether or not it stays in the lineup.

Good to see I'm not the only one with some love for the Techna GP. Bought a 7'4L a few years ago to long cast light lures from the bank. Wish I had of bought the 7'4ML instead.
Beautiful rod, the only Made in China rod in my arsenal.
7 Palms actually has the entire expansive lineup on sale for around $240 each, too bad they do not ship.

Very nice combo. Good to see you over here. Pretty much everything Tiemco Fenwick has done in the way of rods has been underrated, IMO. Even the higher end offerings (Super Techna, GW, Aces) deserve much more praise/attention than they get. Easily the best MIC rods around.
