PB Tennessee largie at 5.25 on the Boga grip!

The handful of times I had my ass handed to me fishing these conditions I assumed were all smallies...well this beast fought like a smallie and I thought I had a 5+ bronzeback until she came up. I need all the power of that Z2020H and Phenix Ultra MBX Classic 707 Heavy to win...had to pull her back up from the second current drop and over a couple of bushes too!

The wiper fought hard as well, I thought I hit a catfish for a while there...all came on a Strike King Bottom Dweller 1 3/8 oz spinnerbait.

Thanks homie, it's not anywhere near my three Colorado PBs in the 7-7.75 ranges or my biggest at 10lb 2oz Cali bass, but it's my biggest from this relatively small section of the Stones River (and TN overall).

FWIW, I have seen pics of a couple DDs from the lower reaches of the Stones River in deeper water areas, from the 1980s-1990s.

Thanks Greg, I still want to break the 6,7,8+ marks, just need to be on the bodies of water that hold those feeshies.

@BlitzDR

Thanks, it was a memorable couple of hours.

Thanks Adam, yessir it's fun for sure...and there have been plenty of times where I also pop a spotted bass and rock bass along with pumpkinseed all on the same stretch of river.  The hybrid is the rarest catch in this part of the river, whereas white bass are more common.

Where in the heck have you found any fish like that in the Rocky Mountains? That's amazing! Anything near 5 is a miracle.

Where in the heck have you found any fish like that in the Rocky Mountains? That's amazing! Anything near 5 is a miracle.

First 7 came January IIRC 1998 at Aloha Beach private pond/Westminster, my friend and her family were part of that community and I had access to it.  It was an unusually warm winter and I hit this big female slow rolling an OG 1/2 oz Horizon titanium spinnerbait down a sloping point off the end of an island that separated two small lakes.  Gear was my TDX HVA 103 paired to an OG Wiebe seat GLoomis MBR 783 IMX, I can't really recall what line, but I ran a lot of 10-12 CXX back then as well.

Honorable mention just shy of 7 came out of Lowell ponds (also Westminster area) about the time my wife and I had been together for a while and was shortly after that first bass, it was a late spring early evening and I was slow rolling a Frankenstein 1/2 oz spinnerbait that I put together in the first pond and casting to the left/west of me just outside the first cove...that spinnerbait was all chartreuse with a gold Colorado tandem and a big rear chartreuse painted blade.  I was using my Calcutta 250 paired to a made in the USA All-Star T38X 6'6" medium and probably the same 10-12 CXX or Izorline Platinum maybe.

Second 7 was a trout eater out of Quincy reservoir, on the nine year anniversary of 911...it was right before sunset and I was fishing on the north shore just to the right of the fishing pier and the water was already drawing down for winter.  That big powerful fat female fought and stayed down like a big catfish...it took me some time and patience to pull her in as I was using a 3/8 oz custom Dale Sellers DW spinnerbait in Clown with 7-strand chartreuse belly and a half slugo trailer.  I was using a stock I'ZE Light paired to a Gen 1 Phenix Ultra MBX Classic 707MH (which I still have!) and cheapo 10lb Triple Fish camo line...that's why I didn't really want to horse this fish because I didn't trust this line much...but I eventually won the fight

Biggest Colorado largemouth is closer to ~ 7 1/2+ IMO now that I have had time to really think about this catch that I hurried back into the lake to avoid hurting her.  She was by a good amount, bigger than all the other bass I have caught in Colorado.

Amazingly, a week after that Echo Canyon beast, I had this day at lower altitude and closer to home in a secluded pond south of Chatfield Reservoir (that was closed off to public access several years ago unfortunately).

Congradulations on the catches especially the PB. Tim is a s/b guy and i had all but given up on the s/b when Tim gave me some tips and i started catching them. When nothing else was working that s/b  casted , allowed to get to depth and retrieved in various ways was just the ticket. I was really worth it when I walked up to the pond and just started unleashing heavenly fish catching ability.

Many of the on lookers were extremely perplexed as the look on their face would tell me in advance .. continue to slang that s/b. I never had one that heavy but ill give it a shot
