It had been a while but finally got out yesterday on a nice fall day in the Northeast. Water temp was right at 60, bass are staging and getting ready to gorge themselves before winter arrives in New England.

Really wanted to catch a fish on the MB Jade Python and I did! Really fun rod… Took a bit to get used to the slant handle and make accurate casts with lighter balsa cranks. First cast ended up in a tree (it’s definitely the rod’s fault, lol). Rod could handle the pull of the cranks and had no issues landing a few fish in the 1 - 3 lbs range. The taper worked well for cranks but not sure about the casting… To be continued.

The intended reel for this rod is an Idaten, it is on its way back from Mr Shields. Crank is a rare handmade balsa flatside from Japan.

Was very nice to finally get out and land a few fish.

What an incredible setting and combo. Very cool to see you get out on the water, my friend.

Love my Jade Python and that’s saying a lot coming from someone who dislikes spinners. Wacky Senkos and Heavier Drop Shots are what I prefer tossing on mine, but it definitely sports a very versatile taper.

Yeah. I’m used to heaving big swimbaits on the the white python slant bridge so it’s an adjustment with this lighter rod and these light lures. But what a cool and unique rod!!

WOWZERS such incredibly beautiful and memorable scenery.  Very happy that you were finally able to get out and enjoy mother nature, and successfully put some gorgeous gear to work.

Thanks for sharing.
