Just some shots on-the-fly...bright clear skies post frontal chilly air, waters receding now for about 3 1/2 days from the last heavy rains and flood waters. Smallies were up and moving into spawning areas.
Zillion SV103L 6.3:1, Evergreen Heracles EG Swimming, 12 lb CXX, modded Hoppy's 3/8 white with painted red metallic head and SK Menace Grub trailer in shad/gill color.
18.25 " and 3.25 on Boga... This fish in that fast current pulled as hard as a 15 lb carp and was just mean. Caught the female first and then the male, both off the same eddy area of the river, they were setting up nest.
That female was so strong I thought I had a PB 5 or 6 Plus pound smallmouth! Of course my feet got wet as I had to go in the water to chase her a bit as she ran downstream and went to the edge left of me and had my line in the brush.
Looks like some pretty epic days on the river! Congrats on the catches including the PB big Juan!
Thanks brother....I absolutely am in my element in the outdoors, especially around water with some healthy and willing sport fish. 😎
