What’s your take on this reel?
Which gear ratio and for what techs? It's the ONLY 7.1:1 LH that has been such a good all-around power moving tech reel that I haven't sold it for a RH yet after a season of fishing, if that says anything. BTW, I swapped out to a 34mm Ito Gigas with ZPI bearing and like the less restrictive braking profile.
I was able to locate a 7.1:1 right hand
planned on using it on my xbd frog rod
Should be a perfect match for the XBD/froggin/heavier applications. Stout, solid reel. Lots of tuning options out there as well.
@rise - Agreed, the Daiwa current gen Duralumin gears are surprisingly smooth and powerful as well. I almost want to say it's every bit as powerful as the OG Zillion 7.1:1 brass, granted there is a lighter cranking feel in the Steez A. The body/frame is pretty darn rock solid as well.
@rise the first Morethan I got was the old model and I didn’t notice the subtle difference so I sold it. I see them here and there and after I get the Steez A in I’ll source another.
all that being said a Morethan PE 1000 spool is lovers lunch in my Steez Ex or SV103xs
PE 1000 spool is really nice. Actually plays well with Flouro as well. Beautiful reels, bud…

Kick ass! Did you have Ian install the super high grade German ball bearings?
