I have 3 Shimano reels awaiting knob upgrades, once those are complete I will definitely add some photos to the Shimano thread!
Nevertheless, I have not been too thrilled with Shimano's offerings lately. They really need to make something other than yet another baitcasting reel that holds 110yds. of 12lb. Like I don't have 15 reels that can do that already!

IMO Shinano's Gen I MM has been a failure especially with the aluminum alloy version, and while the brass version held up longer, nowhere to HEG standards. That Shimano pulled an"Shimbindo.ain't real and it's all user error" playing card in response to consumer complaints...didn't help their cause.
Still, there will always be a loyal following to Shimano, and I would have a large fleet of OG HEG Shimanos if the parts weren't so difficult to source, which is the same reason I have gone away for the most part from newer Shinanos as Corporate has been enamored with "obsolescence is the new market" ideology for many years now.
I’ve yet to experience any failures/issues with MM, or Shimano’s accountability, so I can’t support your statement. Not saying it’s unfounded, just haven’t had any negative experiences myself. The Shims in my fleet range from ZPI-tuned JDM “D-series” frames all the way to current models (21 Antares DC) and while I’m still a Daiwa guy at heart, the Shims have performed very nicely when utilized appropriately.
