Anyone have this rod or use this rod. What are your opinions of this rod? How does it compare to a Tomahawk series rod? is it lighter? Is it more sensitive?
I am a crankbait freak always looking for a good shallow crank bait rod to add to the collection.
this rod is exceptional. I use it for evergreen flat force type baits, but you can do far more
i had the tomahawk and i didnt like it one bit... not in the least.
@goldrod are these rods hard to obtain? Are they still available new??
@blksheepfishing it’s a slim chance but a chance nonetheless. This is in mho targeted cover cranking like for square bills , prop baits
it has one of those hard to explain tapers but when they bite they don’t get off EVER
I will have to compare it to my newly acquired rod but for what it’s worth if you crank you’ll like it. To me the new tomahawk was noodlely and just dead. I caught fish on it in the winter ( florida winter) using lift drop but never just cranking. The tomahawk probably would have been good with OSP blitz dr
I have a Megabass deep throat custom and I throw OSP hpf spec one and two on it and it’s a Steez ex tuned on it. I also throw jackall blings on that rod esp parallel the lilies. So the tomahawk for me was not getting it done.
the SFMS is very sensitive and will excite you when you get bit

Understood...yeah, I am not a fan of the newer blanks/builds at all. The older Tomahawks are a whole other animal, in my experience.
