Any recommendations for a crank bait rod that can throw up to 1oz?

Was looking at the sedition white falcon 7, just missed out on a clean used one today.  Looks like a great rod but hard to get.

Just talked about this stick in another thread., but…I’ll be quick. WF won’t handle 1oz and high resistance/deep running cranks very well, in my experience. Taps out/shines with squarebills to mid-running cranks up to 3/4oz. Sedition’s offerings tend to be a bit “optimistic” in the ratings. Take the Lion heart for example…said yo handle up to 25oz….not happening, unless I’m trying to break it. X7 destruction gets 1-1.5oz deep diving duties in my Arsenal

Thanks.  I guess it's a good thing I didn't get that WF all though it sounds like an awesome squarebill rod from the threads I've found.  I did see that lion heart rating and definitely had to do a double take.

I'm sure an X7 destruction would be just as hard to find as the WF so wish me luck lol.

Thanks again.

Respectfully, it’s my position that opinions offer little justice toward this application. As evidence I offer ‘cranking’ sticks are roughly divided 50/50 between users who prefer glass vs carbon blanks. Just the blank material itself, and this before any other consideration.

Not to dissuade you, Rise knows his stuff offering solid direction, but what works for any of us could be quite different. Gobs of cranks thrown all different ways, from lip vs no lip, crashing cover vs open water, boat vs shore, line type or size fish you target, see what I’m getting at?

I suggest a high-quality stick double rated to what you expect and go from there. In this case looking to throw 1oz, your safest bet is looking for a stick listed capable of 2oz. Ironically, same as what Rise just suggested. You’ll need that power to sink multiple points, simply being able to throw a given weight isn’t enough. No right or wrong answer, just prowl around, when that perfect stick presents itself, you will know. That is when you hit the ‘buy’ button, fish it, come back here and tell us all about it.

Well it's been a few months since I asked but I found a destruction to try.  If it doesn't work out for me and this application I'll find somewhere else it works in my lineup. $157 was cheap enough to try it out and it looks brand new.

I also bought a sedition WF since I sold the rod I was using for squarebill.  I found one for a decent price (if it's in good shape).

Thanks for the help
