Hello All....looking to purchase a JDM rod to be used for my glide bait fishing. The types of baits being fished range from 1.5 to 3.5 oz. The length of rod I would like to use would be in the 7' - 1" to 7' - 4" range to allow accurate casting along structure, banks, and docks. Obviously prefer the "one" piece rods.
What do you folks suggest??
Finally, a new post! And right up my alley. Love it, hate it, doesn't matter. This is my favorite rod of all time. I recently held 5, had a buddy ask so nice I decided to let one go so he could have a second, and now I hold 4. Awesome. Stick.
Made for purpose. It excels in addition to topwater wing or prop within range. Which in spite of list 3oz is remarkably at home throwing 3.5oz. So much so I promise you won't even notice. Looks good, feels good, casts like the wind, and reliable. Not for everybody, apparently, don't ask me why, but there nothing not to like here.
@one-love I gotta agree with you. Dead Sword is an outstanding stick, but I’ll throw out a few others. Fragment Factory Roar 73, Evergreen Super Stallion TKIC71 or the GT2/3 RS will shine at anything 3oz and under. Designo Torque Tune Spec B comes in at 7’4” and while it’s a crispier blank, (fast rebound) it’s highly versatile with great balance between power and forgiveness.
I'll add two more.
-DRT x Tulala 73Remix. Perfect for that weight range and has a forgiving blank made for trebles.
-Tulala Monstruo 75. My old go to rod. Maxes out at 7oz but handles 1oz fantastically. Caught dozens of fish on this and it has always done the job exceptionally well.
Always learning...
The Dead Sword leaves me with no desires whatsoever when i pick it up. If there was a rod that was considred perfect this would be it. The handle is absolutely what makes this rod what it is for me because it had just the right amount of handle to cast and not get in the way
it balances well
the action lends itself to versatility in that I've thrown the evoke 120 by Deps with great success.
I absolutely love this rod and have no regrets. I had it the other day with a glide bait and the rod gives me the confidence of what i am doing. i have caught some big fish on this rod its special for sure.
